Hamersley Recreation Centre Accessibility Works

Project Name: Hamersley Recreation Centre Accessibility Works

Client: City Of Stirling

Architect: Bollig Design

Project Value: $613,000

Project Description:

The work at Hamersley Community and Recreation Centre comprised of a new accessible WC and refurbishment of existing WC facilities in the Art & Craft Room, Community Centre and the Sports Hall. The work also included installation of two new platform lifts, alterations to service counter in main sports hall foyer and alterations to sports hall ramp. The external works included demolition and supply of new handrails, alteration of existing levels and provision of new disabled parking and paved areas.

The project was made up of three separate areas so that when the toilets were upgraded one area of toilets could function at all times. However with access to one area being delayed by the client due to functions, we were not going to be able to achieve the Practical Completion date.

This was managed by closing all toilets to the public to allow work in all areas to continue concurrently. A disabled toilet with a ramp and a six unit toilet block was hired for public use. The client agreed to maintain these toilets for the two month duration.
